First Visit

Thank you for choosing our office for all your dental needs. We have created a comfortable environment where you can feel confident in the level of dental care you receive.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

During your first visit, our objective is to get to know you better, to become familiar with your past dental experiences and to establish a treatment plan that will best meet your current desires. When you arrive for your first visit, please be prepared to complete all insurance and health information forms.

Also, please assist us by providing the following information:

  • Any panoramic X-ray taken within the past six months.
  • If you have dental insurance, please bring your insurance card. This will enable us to give you an estimate of your costs.

Comprehensive Exam

Your first visit will last approximately one hour, or 90 minutes if you are having a routine cleaning. In most cases, a first visit will include an initial exam, routine cleaning, digital X-rays and an evaluation to outline your existing dental problems and proposed treatment. Occasionally, a patient may require a more extensive, special type of cleaning due to the length of time since their last dental cleaning or if periodontal issues are present. This may require multiple visits. During your appointment, hygiene instructions will be provided along with suggestions to help you care for your teeth.

Open Communication

We believe that good dental care begins with open communication. Certain medications are used to prevent or fight an infection, or to relieve any post-operative discomfort and pain.

It is extremely important that you share your entire medical history – including any medications you are currently taking – with our office. Some medications used in dentistry, and other medical practices, could interact with those medications in a detrimental way. In addition, if you have any allergic reactions to certain medications, it is important for our office to know beforehand.

Finally, if you are prescribed any medication by our office, follow the dosage instructions very carefully, and if instructed, finish your entire prescription even if you are no longer feeling pain.

We promise to speak candidly with you about our diagnosis and recommendations, any alternative treatments, and any symptoms present that may require treatment from a specialist. Working together, we can achieve a true partnership, with one common goal – keeping your smile beautiful and your teeth, gums and jaw joints healthy!
